Hera choker by redLillith Hera choker by redLillith
My half of an art trade with the ever amazing, stunningly talented :iconellygator: . I sent her some black opals and a kyanite teardrop, and some vague reference to Celtic knotwork and art nouveau and she came up with this! [link]

She requested green, with a peacock theme. The rest was my rampant imagination, fueled by her recent submissions involving peacocks, a certain Lucius, and that stunning peacock fan wall-art in her gallery. ^_^

Antique venetian lace (hand-dyed), brass art nouveau stamping, peacock feather, countless iridescent seed beads, and 9 emerald faceted tear drops (all strategically located). Don't even ask me how much time this took or how many times I altered it . . you don't want to know! :P

Ships out today!!

lol . . decadent, eh? must be the peacock feather!

just wait . . there is another far more lush and decadent one in the works just for the sheer point of inspiration . . a really wonderful collaboration with another artist here who like me never really does those with our jewelry. ;) it'll blow everyone away . . at least, that's the plan!

Ooooo.. even more lush? *goes a bit crosseyed at the thought* I can't wait to see that!!

And I know.. you very rarely get to just play.. which is sad, cuz those you have done tend to be some of my faves! I.E. Camille, the blue rose, the rosary chokers.. etc lol

oh yes . . . very much so more lush! :excited: think things like white opals, white feathers . . . etc. ;)

I do! heck, to point, I have 5 different randomly inspired pieces sitting on my work desk in various states of completion that are just driving me to distraction! I hate when things aren't finished due to lack of available time as opposed to supplies. >_< vexes me nearly as much as the post office does!!!

aww . . thanks for saying that hun! I know my random pieces aren't nearly as popular as the commissioned stuff . . . .

*pat pat* At least you have all the parts right? That way you know you CAN finish it at least right?

No clue why on my side of it.. I like seeing what you can come up with!

I am hoping it will be even more amazing than it is in my head!!! and when I consider whom I am collaborating with, I get all giggly and goose-bumpy. :giggle: my collaboratress is out of town currently, so I must await her return. otherwise, the really tricky parts are on my desk! :excited:

oh yes, I do have all the parts to finish the 5 currently in progress . . it's just time I am always short on! ah well. eventually. one I really want to rush to get to finish is a piece inspired by and in honor of one of my idols .. . Bettie Page. that one I am really excited about! it's not often I work in pearls . . . .

lol, well, for whatever reason, it is good to know someone out there gets excited to see what my brain concocts!

that's a surprise too! we are both hoping to really shock everyone . . as neither of us has genuinely collaborated before this. she just seemed like the perfect person to accomplish what I really desired . . and she agreed. ;) it will be fun to see what everyone thinks of what we create together!

oh totally! a lot of her promo pics and formal photography gigs involved her in pearls . . and while perfectly round ones aren't my thing, I am hoping to still be able to accomplish making a piece worthy of her name and memory. we'll see! I want to get that one done and up this weekend if possible. ;)

I love it. The peacock green with the feather, the fine bead work:heart:
How exciting to trade with yet another amazing jeweler.

you know, dA has done that to me too! after a few tries I normally wander off grumbling to try another day. ;)

aww, thanks hun! there is a lot more beadwork than is evident . . a LOT. faceted stuff, very lovely in person. ;)

and I know! I was so happy she was agreeable. ^_^ have commissioned a few more pieces off of her for other projects, and even a surprise!!! :shh:

:whisper:LOL, kind of like how some of us still have 200+ favs and at least 40 comments to attended to. :shh: don't tell anyone =P:laughing: Ohhhh... I'm horrible, but I really do try.

Aww, don't you wish the camera could capture everything we're seeing with the naked eye?
I've been trying to look at wedding gowns and even with the professional photography and high quailty caremas used in those pics I'm usually asking my self where are these sequins they speak of in the description :?

Oooh. My lips are seeled. Quietly :excited:... can't wait...

oh definitely! I am so far behind on my "thank you" list its not even funny! ( :shh: try like . . over 3000!!!!) :faint: I just need a day when I can sit and get to them all . . but that isn't likely till after New Years!! :P so yeah, I know what you mean hun!

I really do! even with a top-end camera, it doesn't see what we see . . . which sucks. especially if you are trying to impress the viewer! :P and I've seen that so many times! my daughter finally gave up looking at pics for an actual idea for her dress . . the details she was hoping for were all washed out in the pics. *sighs* so we traipse to store after store.

it'll be spectacular! but no one will get to see till after Christmas . . its a random but inspired thing! ^_^

LOL. My mother and I have tried only once so far to get out
and actually look around. LOL, were trying to round up the
other ladies involved to go with us so we have the proper
reinforcements and moral support to keep us going:giggle:
Yeah, relying on that interweb just ain't goo enough.
I really don't have the patience for it these days now that

oh, been there! we actually found two dresses that she swooned over and were perfect fits . . at the thrift store. ;) go figure! worked out very nicely, especially on the pocketbook. :P some of the prices for those things is out and out robbery.

you won't be disappointed, I promise! it will be a thing of startling beauty to behold. :excited:

Ooh I'm doin me some shopping at some thrift stores.
I'm not one of those lucky folk who just seems to have
money falling in their lap from this source and that.
But, obviously, the search continues.

lol .. I just gave up!

I have the same problem hun, I hit all the sales and the thrift store is my fount of inspiration. the ladies that work there are so accustomed to seeing me they started saving things they thought I'd be interested in! lol. once, they set aside a heather colored wool cloak lined in purple silk with pewter clasps . . thing is so warm! I adore it. only cost me $3. it pays to hit the second hand stores!

Ooh. I do like fiber jewelry. As for the Lucius reference... *searching system for all references to 'lucius'*

...Er, Malfoy? His name was Lucius, right? (don't hit me for being dumb, I'm just running on pop culture references to something i've never read!)

Is his son really blond and pretty, or is that just the fan art casting him in a favourable light?

some of my girls think he's a fox, so I suppose it's just a matter of personal opinion! ;) I am not really sure if JK actually meant for him to be pretty . . blond, yes, as the parents are, but I might have to re-read to figure out if she meant for the pretty part!

you know, I almost wanted to name this after Narcissa . . just because of the peacock thing, and the fact that your version of her is so amazing. ;) had it been all white, it might have been more fitting. oooh! can you just imagine it? a white lace choker with a silver snakey centerpiece and white peacock feather accent?? wow . . Wow! That sounds really awesome, actually! Would totally be like a gift that Lucius might give, elegant, lavish and wonderfully over the top!

I posted your bracelet yesterday, too, together with all my Christmas parcels destined for Europe. It's insured as well, so hopefully everything will go well. Look out for a small cubic box wrapped in brown parcel paper...

why thanks! :D

ugh .. I've been asked so many times to do a tutorial on these . . and I can't! explaining the process just sounds bizarre, as most of the work is internal visualization and then just practical application of my various sewing and beading skills. *shrugs* many pieces go through several transformations before the finished item makes me happy. you wouldn't believe how many times I tear one apart repeatedly till I am happy with it. and the process is different for each one. I never do design sketches ahead of time, and rarely ever photograph each step. I just sort of get started and don't rise again till I am done. not much help, I know!

oh, I don't mind! I just get frustrated with myself for my serious lack of anything that resembles a real process. a bit like my other artistic endeavors . . . the closest I get to an accurate explanation for anything is "one or more of my muses whacks me over the head with a brick and voila!"
